Gang activity is on the rise in Utah and we need to keep its reputation as a "family-friendly state of law abiding citizens." It it easy to overlook gang violence, and some may think that this topic isn't applicable to themselves, their families, or their neighborhoods but gang violence effects everyone in the community. Law enforcement officials say that knowledge is power when it comes to combating criminal gangs, as gang activity tends to take place below the radar of public knowledge.
As a parent or member of the community it may seem difficult to fight such a big issue by yourself. However, this blog is here as a means to inform the public and to serve as a forum of discussion. Each week we will focus on a different topic concerning gang violence. These topics will include: how to recognize gang activity in your community, how to report gang violence, and steps to take to ensure that your children are not taking part in gang violence.
